Guy Strazz Bio

An acknowledged guitar virtuoso and awarded composer, Guy's work navigates modern jazz, crossover jazz influenced by Afro-Brazilian and Indian classical music.
He has performed as featured artist at Jazz Yatra (India), Jakarta Jazz, Perth and Adelaide Arts Festivals, Clusone Jazz Festival (Italy), Japan World Expo, the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne and Wangaratta Jazz Festivals, and the Adelaide International Guitar Festival (Global Guitar).
His albums, released on important labels such as ABC Jazz, Birdland, and Underscore Records, feature many of his compositions. His current projects are the Acoustic Wonderland Band, Guy Strazz & Mark Johns Great Guitars, and Aura - with drummer David Jones. He holds a PhD in music and has been teaching new generations of guitarists for over two decades. He also lectures in Western classical & jazz harmony.
Guy is a recipient of several awards, including a Jazz Australian Performing Rights Award (APRA) award, two Jazz APRA Nominations, an Australian Independent Recording (AIR) Jazz Nomination, a US Indie Acoustic Project runner-up for Best Global Beat Asia, and a recipient of an Australian Arts Council Music Fellowship.
He has collaborated with great players such as Matt McMahon, Sandy Evans, Dale Barlow, Don Burrows, Joe Chindamo, Steve Hunter, Andrew Gander, and David Jones. Also, with Indian musicians Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Ashok Roy and Sandip Chatterjee, and guitarists Mark Johns, Martin Taylor, Slava Grigoryan, and Mike Stern.
