An acknowledged guitar virtuoso and awarded composer, Guy's work navigates modern jazz and crossover jazz influenced by Afro-Brazilian, flamenco and Indian classical music.
He has performed as featured artist at Jazz Yatra (India), Jakarta Jazz, Perth and Adelaide Arts Festivals, Clusone Jazz Festival (Italy), Japan World Expo, the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne and Wangaratta Jazz Festivals and the Adelaide International Guitar Festival (Global Guitar).
His albums are released on diverse labels such as ABC Jazz and Underscore Records featuring his compositions. His current projects are the Acoustic Wonderland Band, Guy Strazz & Mark Johns Great Guitars, and Aura with drummer David Jones. He holds a PhD in music and has been teaching new generations of guitarists for over two decades. He also lectures in Western classical & jazz harmony and ethnomusicology.
Guy Strazz is a recipient of several awards, including an Australian Performing Rights Award (APRA) award, two APRA nominations, an Australian Independent Recording (AIR) Jazz Nomination, a US Indie Acoustic Project runner-up for Best Global Beat Asia, and a recipient of an Australian Arts Council Music Fellowship.
He has collaborated with great players such as Matt McMahon, Sandy Evans, Dale Barlow, Don Burrows, Joe Chindamo, Andrew Gander, David Jones and Gordon Rhytmaster. Also, Indian musicians Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Ashok Roy and Sandip Chatterjee, and guitarists Mark Johns, Martin Taylor, Slava Grigoryan, and Mike Stern.
